Scotland's referendum isn't giving much of a boost to nationalist sentiments around Europe.

 Seperation may have divided Scotland, but there is one thing that isn’t in doubt: those feelings aren’t spilling over into the surrounding areas. The idea that Scottish separation would reignite nationalism around Europe is compelling, but experts and polls say that isn’t the case.

As the world watches protests unfold in Venezuela and Ukraine, the revolution in Syria is all but forgotten. That is how one Canadian woman feels, after following news reports on the actions of countries in response to events in Venezuela and Ukraine. Sarah Ahmed* is a Canadian of Syrian descent who says that Syria is being pushed to the side even though the situation is escalating.

Yesterday Ken Krawetz, the Saskatchewan Party finance minister,  announced the party had donated $60, 000 in humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian Assistance Account. This comes after a special meeting with the Saskatchewan-Ukrainian Advisory Committee in Saskatoon.

 

In a statement to the media, Krawetz said he recognized the hard work of the Ukrainian-Canadian community and the Ukrainian Canadian Congress in their continuing fight for a democratic homeland.
