Battle of the systems; who’s going to win, PS4 or Xbox One? For years the rivalry between Sony’s PlayStation consoles and Microsoft’s Xbox consoles has raged on. The battle continues and is even more heated as PS4 was released this past Friday and Xbox One will be this Friday November 22.

A press release from Sony states that the long awaited release resulted in one million units sold during the first 24 hours after it became available in Canada and the United States.

So far the response on social media has been positive towards the new system. PlayStation’s official Twitter page has shown that fans are impressed with things like the graphics, the look of the console and controller and the new menu system it offers.

Dylan White an avid gamer from Prince Albert, who was a Microsoft user, just bought the PS4 and loves it. Dylan says “Microsoft got too money hungry and didn’t care about their costumers as much this time around.”

Stores in Regina, like Best Buy, prepared for the release. Along with over 100 consoles pre-ordered, at least another 25 were sold Friday in that one store alone. Best Buy is also gearing up for the Xbox One release with numbers expected to be similar.

However, not everyone was as excited for the PS4. Many of the faithful Microsoft fans have held their ground against the wave of Sony fans, patiently waiting for the Xbox One. Dustin Curtis, a 21 year old long-term gamer says that he will be getting the Xbox One. He favours Microsoft over Sony for reasons like their developer support and the fact the Microsoft focus is North American based.

The battle won’t be slowing down anytime soon. So for games like Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed, it all comes down to who you support the most. Who’s it going to be, PS4 or Xbox One?
