The Workshop in Journalism for Aspiring Aboriginal students was initiated in 2006 by the Young Peoples Press of Canada in partnership with five Canadian Schools of Journalism. The University of Regina' School of Journalism hosted three workshops for highschool-aged youth: winter 2007; fall 2007 and winter 2008. The last workshop had the financial support of the First Nations and Métis Relations office of the Saskatchewan government. Faculty, staff, visiting professors and Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students played a pivotal role in planning, organizing and delivering the workshops.
