After approximately 1000 advanced polls were counted, Hagel was down 30 votes to the Saskatchewan Party's Warren Michelson.
But as Hagel put it, there is some hope. A number of absentee ballots have yet to to be counted. This will be done Thursday in Regina.
8:30 p.m.
Shortly before nine the squeak of a sharpie marker indicates the sweet smell of potential victory for Moose Jaw Wakamow Candidate Deb Higgins and Moose Jaw NDP candidate Glen Hagel.
Volunteers write poll results on wall-sized poster paper, likely pointing to an all-out NDP win for Moose Jaw.
7:14 p.m.
According to the returning officer's office, counting the advanced polls will be a tedious endeavour for the one person designated to do so. She said there are about three to four times as many votes this year as in 2003.
6:40 p.m.
Doritos, pop and two bags of corn twists await approximately 50 NDP supporters- going by chair count – at Moose Jaw’s Union Centre. It’s the chosen destination for NDP candidates Deb Higgins and Glenn Hagel's post-election party.
At their respective campaign offices, volunteers scurry, making last minute contact with voters making last minute decisions.
Like Union Centre, Moose Jaw Wakamow returns office is virtually empty, something sure to change when polls close in just over an hour. As of 11 p.m., advanced ballots still had to be counted, but Hagel led with 51.41 per cent of the votes.
